Glenarm Tea Room

2 Castle Lane, Glenarm, Ballymena County Antrim BT44 0BQ, Northern Ireland • +44 (028) 2884-1203 • Map • Website

There is no piano and the tea room is simple and filled with wooden tables and checked table cloths. There is however a lovely view through to the exquisite Glenarm Castle walled garden which is well worth a visit in its own right should you find yourself on the eastern side of Northern Ireland wending your way up towards the Giant’s Causeway.

The reason this rates a mention here is that they serve absolutely the best scones ever encountered by either of us (and I say this as someone extremely proud of my own attempts in this field). The scones are enormous yet very moist and the treacle scone was on another plane entirely. The scones are made off site by a local bakery which we were unfortunately unable to track down (it may be just as well as if we had found it I may have abandoned my career and indentured myself to this wondrous scone maker as a willing apprentice.) One word of recommendation only: Go!
