The Savoy
The Strand, London WC2R 0EU, England • +44 (020) 7836-4343 • Map • WebsiteOur favourite. We can only hope that when the Savoy reopens in 2010 the approach to afternoon tea remains dedicated to the high class and attention to service and detail that always made it such a treat. As my favourite London afternoon tea venue I have been lucky enough to have afternoon tea here three times – and each was exceptional. One of the many joys of the experience here is the great room with its art deco white piano. The service is excellent and the scones arrive warm. The staff at the Savoy are also happy to replenish each level of your tea tray as you clear it. It would apparently be possible to eat tea here all afternoon and never run out of fine cakes and warm scones. The tea list is long and your pot will also be refilled as often as you wish. Forget the Ritz – if there is one place to go in London for afternoon tea this is it.
