Seven Seeds
114 Berkeley Street, Carlton VIC 3053, Australia • +61 (03) 9347 8664 • Map • WebsiteThe last in our three bean 2010 Melbourne Review series of cafes was faced on a rainy morning with both of us nursing hangovers from a great night before at Rockpool.
By this time I was getting slightly over Melbourne's love affair with industrial chic interior design. In Seven Seed's defence though they did at least have a sign outside so it was relatively easy to find (unlike the other trendy cafes we visited on this trip).
Seven Seeds roast their own coffee on site and we enjoyed a fruity example of their own single estate Beloya 16 Microlot.
The cafe faces onto a glass room filled with healthy looking coffee plants and siphons for cupping. Seven Seeds run a lot of educational programmes should you wish to delve deeper into their product.
On this somewhat shaky morning though we simply sipped fine coffee (or in my case a reviving lemongrass tea made with fresh herbs), ate tasty bircher muesli and gradually began to feel human enough to hit the road and continue our culinary tour of Victoria. Sometimes it is indeed a tough job!
