Chokolait

I have been having a hot chocolate a week lately. A somewhat strange pastime in summer Melbourne. As our home page states - it is indeed sometimes a tough job. I have put myself through this calorific trial so that you, our readers, need not suffer the same disappointments I have come across on my long search but can instead, go straight to the source of the very best. And Chokolait is it!

I love the Lindt Cafe's dark chocolate. And Melbourne has a new Lindt Chocolat Cafe of its own on Collins Street. However if you are feeling super indulgent then Chokolait's dark chocolate hot chocolate is an even bigger kick.

It is a thin ganache. It comes served in a ridiculously large glass and has real Belgian chocolate flakes on top. The sides of the glass have had melted chocolate swirled down them. I took one look and declared I would never finish it. I took one taste and then did exactly that. I even got stuck in to the melted chocolate on the sides with my teaspoon.

Chokolait do other things. Some lovely chocolates, good coffee and loose leaf tea and a good looking chocolate pavlova. But their dark hot chocolate is very hard to pass up. Thanks to my mate Ben for passing on the recommendation. I can now have a break since I believe I have found the best in town!
