Lindt Chocolate Café

53 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia • +61 (02) 8257-1600 • Map • Website

This café is a chocolate lovers paradise. From indulgent hot fudge sundaes, to pain au chocolat and truly decadent cakes this a great place to take a date or go with a girlfriend for some serious sweet tooth pampering. Be warned though – this is not a great place if you are even contemplating a diet and if (by some strange quirk of fate) chocolate isn’t your thing then you will need to find your kicks elsewhere.

The hot chocolate here comes in a choice of milk or dark and is classily served in a small jug holding about an espresso shot full of liquid, chocolate joy. You are given a cup and another larger jug of well frothed milk and then the fun begins. Playing with food this good is almost as much fun as tasting it! My personal trick is to only mix in the milk foam so that the dark chocolate forms beautiful swirls and the intensity isn’t compromised too much by the milk. The dark chocolate is slightly bitter with a real kick to it (I had a headache both afternoons after indulging in this – but it was worth it!) The milk chocolate is smoother and milder but still very tasty. Personally I am planning a solitary trip back to Lindt to take on the fudge sundae but I need to fit in another week’s exercise first!
