Welcome

SomeonesGottaDoIt is the creation of a pair of passionate foodies. Through luck and work and an enthusiastic travel lust we have between us visited lots of countries, and lived for many years in some of them. Throughout these travels (and at home) we have been committed to finding the world’s best examples of various vital things like Eggs Benedict, afternoon teas, boutique hotels and Italian hot chocolate. We have eaten many a sublime meal at Michelin starred restaurants and some delightful (sometimes quirky) meals at less starry establishments. We feel we have a responsibility to you – our friends and readers – to let you know what we thought. Our reviews are of course entirely subjective but then that is half the fun of loving food and as someone famous once said  de gustibus non est disputandum (in matters of taste there is no dispute.)

So you get an idea of where we stand (and of whether you share our tastes) here are some of our musts: we like our cheese stinky, our champagne cold, our scones warm, our chocolate dark and our coffee perfectly espressed with a pattern on top.

Occasionally we have found that if you want something done right, you just have to do it yourself, and in these cases we have added a "How to" link with recipes for perfect scones and homemade Hollandaise. We also take recommendations for new restaurants and hotels from published reviews and friends and have included these in the "Red Book".
