Brunch Restaurants
We are firm fans of brunch as a meal in its own right. We tend to go out for brunch at least once a week and have often fantasised about opening our own brunch cafe. This imaginary culinary gem would serve superb coffee, have a great selection of loose leaf teas and make a mean fruit smoothie. Our ideal brunch menu is a constant work in progress but would of course include such gems as a traditional Eggs Benedict, fluffy American pancakes served with real maple syrup, bacon and eggs in all their various combinations and a fabulous granola served with yoghurt and a mix of fresh and poached fruit. Some of our favourite brunch destinations (such as the Wolseley) are also restaurants in their own right. Others are smaller places where we might go for lunch but never for dinner. Some such as Picnic in Killyleagh are more delis than cafes. This section is for all the wonderful brunch restaurants that didn’t fit in our other criteria. If you aren’t a brunch fan we can promise you a good lunch and a great coffee at most of these places as well.
You can access our reviews from the list below or the Locations... menu to the left:
In Melbourne, Australia
- Café Pearl (599 Church Street, Richmond). Mad about the menu.
- Pelican (16 Fitzroy St, St Kilda). Groovy design and super tasty tasting plates.
Elsewhere in Australia
- Urban Bistro (160 Fullarton Rd, Rose Park). The best pancakes bar none.
- Cook & Archie's (1a/4 Buckingham St., Surry Hills). Great coffee, delicious fresh food and friendly service.
In England
- The Wolseley (160 Piccadilly, London). An art deco must on any London itinerary.
In Northern Ireland
- Picnic Deli (47 High St, Killyleagh). A life saving touch of foodie class in darkest rural Northern Ireland.
