Let’s be very clear that Jerusalem restaurant on Hindley Street in Adelaide is never going to be a Michelin star contender. The decor (if a ceiling covered in parachute silk can be called decor) has remained unchanged for 20 years and the menu hasn’t developed much either. It is extremely cheap and the owner sometimes throws plates at his happy customers instead of laying the table. Yet this Adelaide institution makes the best falafel in town and the hummous will make your eyes water. Not to mention the babba ganoush. For lovers of all things Lebanese go to Jerusalem – if only for the experience!
